Following is the statement issued by the National and Islamic Forces on June 2, 2001; signatories are: Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fateh); Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP); Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas); Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP); Palestinian People’s Party (PPP); Palestinian Democratic Union (FIDA); Palestinian Popular Struggle Front; Palestinian Liberation Front; Islamic Jihad Movement; Arab Liberation Front; Palestinian Arab Front; Popular Front—General Command; Islamic National Salvation Party; and Popular Liberation War Pioneers (Sa’iqa):

Our adamant Palestinian masses
Our glorious Arab and Islamic Masses
Our heroes of the Intifada

As the blessed Intifada, the Intifada of Al-Aqsa, Al-Quds, Independence and Return, enters its 9th month with determination and will, there was the passing away of the tough and solid struggler, the martyr Faisal, the son of Abdul Qader al-Husseini, the good son of Jerusalem, who assumed a leading position in carrying the trust that was so heavy. In his absence, the Palestinian people lost a distinguished leader who devoted his life to the cause and to the Palestinian national unity towards the liberation of al-Aqsa and al-Quds, the eternal capital of the independent sovereign state of Palestine. Bringing his pure body to Jerusalem in a massive Palestinian gathering stressed the Arab, Islamic, sanctity and revolutionary aspects of Jerusalem, which also stresses on the role of the masses in the adamant confrontation against the occupying Zionist entity. Peace be upon his soul, we are all on the same path.

It has become clear that any person with insight can see that the previous and upcoming US interventions are to serve the Zionist entity and an attempt to legitimize the conduct of slaughterer Sharon and his racist government. The new US peace envoy launches his efforts from Sharon's lies on a ceasefire in order to condemn the heroic Palestinian resistance against occupation and settlers and condemn the heroic Intifada through which our Palestinian masses express their clinging to their national and constant rights in defeating occupation and achieving freedom and national independence. This biased envoy came to pave the way for the expected aggression by Sharon who is trying to break the will of the Palestinian people and destroy the infrastructure, security, and order in the PNA regions, under the illusion that he can achieve security to the Zionist entity and force the Palestinian people to kneel and accept dictations. This conceited Sharon has forgotten that the courageous (Jabbareen) people of challenge, steadfastness, and resistance will continue in their challenge, steadfastness, and resistance until this conceited person is broken and until his racist government collapses, including the right wing and left wing figures who are two sides of the same fake coin.

The Palestinian challenge and the readiness to face the worst possibilities with Sharon and his aggression policy require a firm and serious position from the Arab and Islamic nation, both on the popular and official levels to condemn the aggression and stand in face of all attempts to lift the isolation imposed on Sharon-Peres government, especially the calls coming from the Arab Morocco that is inviting the Israelis into Morocco at a time when the decisions of the Arab summit and the Arab Follow-up Committee and the decisions of the Islamic countries FMs not to hold any contacts with the government of Sharon as long as the aggression continues against our people. The National and Islamic Forces call on all Arab and Islamic governments to cling to the decision to isolate the government of Sharon and not to deal with it, especially that everybody realizes that Sharon is not qualified to do anything but commit more war crimes that deserve trial at international tribunals as a war criminal.

The National and Islamic Forces call on the Palestinian masses and the Arab and Islamic nation to activate their solidarity activities as the Intifada enters the month of aggression, the month of June that brings back to memory the 34th anniversary of the aggression of June 5 on the Arab Palestinian lands and the 19th anniversary of the aggression on Lebanon which came to end the existence of the Palestinian revolution and impose control on Lebanon.

Marking these painful anniversaries, in the same way that the Nakba anniversary was marked, comes to confirm to the Zionist enemy and the whole world that the Palestinian people and the Arab and Islamic nation cling to their rights and will not leave it to time to erase these rights from their memory.

The National and Islamic Forces condemn and warn of taking the law into one's own hands under the title of eliminating collaborators. The law must take its course and justice must remain the basis in taking any decision. Therefore, the Forces call on the national security apparatuses to bear their responsibilities in striking with an iron fist the collaborators. The Forces call on the forces and factions to offer their information and evidence that indict the collaborators to the security services so that justice can take its due course.

The National and Islamic Forces condemn the barbaric Zionist attack against Great Hasan Bek Mosque and against the worshippers in Jaffa in terms of siege, destruction, and desecration of holy sites.

The National and Islamic Forces extend to the Arab and Islamic masses congratulations on the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet, which comes on Sunday, June 3, 2001, hoping that this anniversary will come next year with better conditions.

The National and Islamic Forces call on our masses to participate in the following activities:

1- Tuesday, June 5, 2001: A day of Palestinian challenge on the anniversary of the aggression in June 1967 against our people and nation and the aggression against Lebanon and against the PLO in 1982 which was headed by the slaughterer Sharon who committed the Sabra and Shatella Massacre, to be expressed in massive demonstrations in the homeland and in the Diaspora.

2- Friday, June 8, 2001: A day for Jerusalem and a day to move towards the Aqsa mosque and organize massive marches that confirm the Arab and Islamic nature of Jerusalem.

The Palestinian masses in the homeland and in the Diaspora salute the positions expressed by the statements of brother Amro Musa regarding the isolation of Sharon's government and not to hold any contacts with it and salute the original position of all forces, organization and official and popular institutions that support the Intifada and resistance and demand from all Arab and Islamic institutions and frameworks to unify their positions that will constitute the safety valve for the struggle of our Palestinian people on their path towards achieving their freedom and independence.
 Long live the blessed Intifada
Glory and eternity for our martyrs
Fast recovery to the injured and freedom for our heroic prisoners
It is an Intifada until victory
