A statement issued by the National and Islamic Forces
November 18, 2000

Following are excerpts of a statement issued by the National and Islamic Forces on November 18, 2000; signatories are: Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fateh); Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP); Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas); Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP); Palestinian People’s Party (PPP); Palestinian Democratic Union (FIDA); Palestinian Popular Struggle Front; Palestinian Liberation Front; Islamic Jihad Movement; Arab Liberation Front; Palestinian Arab Front; Popular Front—General Command; Islamic National Salvation Party; and Popular Liberation War Pioneers (Sa’iqa):

Let the blessed Intifada continue and escalate

[…]The National and Islamic Powers affirm that the continued Israeli escalation against our people, be it on the level of its savage military attacks against our masses, the various economic punishments or its threats to escalate these measures, only reflect that the occupation and its military machinery suffers from a suffocating crisis to prevent the activities of the Intifada and its various accomplishments on the Palestinian national, Arab, Islam or international level. This is particularly apparent in aborting Israel’s continuous attempts to legitimize settlement on Palestinian land, or legitimizing the continuation of occupying Jerusalem and annexing it as well as attempting to impose a formula of cantons and isolation on the Palestinian territory.

The National and Islamic Powers proudly record the success of the Intifada in placing the Palestinian cause on the world stage as it is: a national and popular struggle against the Zionist occupation of Palestinian land and against the attempts to impose a de facto peace on the Palestinian people.

The National and Islamic Powers call upon our people to prepare for turning 29 November 2000 into a solidarity day with the Palestinian people as the second monthly anniversary of the Intifada by making it a historical date whereas all Palestinian powers and activities mass up to enlarge the popular participation of the Intifada. It also calls on the Arab and Islamic masses to declare this date a solidarity day…

The National and Islamic Powers call upon our people to continue its struggle. We particularly salute our people in Hebron and other sites who have been under curfew since the beginning of the Intifada in order to satisfy a bunch of invading settlers; thus we reject any comparison between the occupation and its settlers and our people and their right to resist in all internationally legitimate means against the occupation. We salute all forms of legitimate resistance against the settlers and occupation soldiers and call upon our people to work on achieving the following activities:

  1. Tuesday, 21 November 2000: A day of confrontation and popular rallies dedicated to reveal the blatant American bias to the occupation and calling on breaking the United States’ monopoly and hegemony. We call on our Palestinian, Arab and Islamic people to boycott American goods, condemn its policy in the region and call on the Arab and Islamic world to confront the American interests in all possible means.
  2. Friday, 24 November 2000: A day of popular rallies against the occupation and its savage measures dedicated to reinforce the steadfastness of our people in Jerusalem. Our people, including those inside the Green Line, should head to pray at al-Aqsa Mosque or at the nearest point to it.
  3. Sunday, 26 November 2000: Solidarity rallies at Red Cross offices calling for an end of the savage aggression against our people and demanding temporary international protection as well as the release of Palestinian detainees and prisoners.

Victory to the Intifada
Defeat to the occupying enemy
Pride and Immortality to our martyrs
It is a continuous Intifada to remove occupation and for independence
