Mental health is an increasing concern in the occupied Palestinian territories. Israeli movement restrictions and the difficulty of access to education and healthcare have had serious consequences on the day-to-day life of Palestinians.
The Palestinian Counseling Center’s study on the psychological impact of the Wall revealed that 52 percent of those surveyed had thought of ending their life, 92 percent felt no hope for the future, 100 percent reported feeling stressed, and 84 percent expressed feelings of constant anger because of circumstances beyond their control. Feelings of insecurity have also increased in areas directly affected by the construction of the Israeli Wall: 90 percent compared to 75 percent in other areas.
