RAMALLAH, June 6 (JMCC) - Renowned American rock band The Pixies are the latest in a series of musical artists that have canceled scheduled concerts in Israel.

The Pixies follow British artists The Klaxons, Placebo, and the Gorillaz in their decision to cancel appearances in the upcoming Pic.Nic Festival later this month.

Famed British artist Elvis Costello also canceled a high-profile show in May citing Israel's 'humiliating' treatment of Palestinians.

Although citing elements 'beyond our control', The Pixies decision comes in the wake of Israel's raid on the Freedom Flotilla bound for Gaza on May 31, which left 9 activists dead.

The raid, which was condemned worldwide, has done serious harm to Israel's image and buoyed the growing Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement against the state.
