RAMALLAH, June 13 (JMCC) - After years of controversy over the construction of a museum on the site of the Mamilla cemetery, the Jerusalem municipality has renewed plans to build a courthouse complex on the same site.
The Muslim cemetery is the site of hundreds of graves, some of them important figures from the time of the Prophet Muhammed. According to a
Haaretz investigation, some 1,500 skeletons were unearthed in the area in 2009.
Despite repeated appeals to the Israeli courts, construction has continued at the site.
