RAMALLAH, Sept. 25 (JMCC) - Dozens of protesters took part in a flash mob performance on Friday afternoon in
Tel Aviv, freezing in place for three minutes to protest
Israel's renewal of
West Bank settlement construction this week.
One of the organizers, Eyal Raviv, said the flash mob was chosen because new media and internet social networking enable such actions to reach a very wide audience.
“We chose this because it just works,” Raviv said, mentioning a previous flash mob video filmed in 2008 that has reached over 23 million views on Youtube.
Raviv, one of the founders of peace activist group “Mepeace”, said he believed such demonstrations are important because “people can influence the government, especially when we come together and use creativity and ingenuity.”
