RAMALLAH, October 2 (JMCC) - Nobel laureate Mairead Maguire was denied an appeal Friday of a ban that prevents her from entering Israel
and the occupied Palestinian territories
Maguire has until Sunday to file another appeal before she will be deported from a detention center at Tel Aviv
's Ben Gurion airport.
She was refused entry into Israel on Tuesday as she arrived with a delegation of other high-level women's rights activists from around the world, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said.Read
Maguire, along with fellow Nobel Peace Laureate Jody Williams and founders of the Nobel Women's Initiative, was set to lead a delegation to Israel and the Palestinian territories over the next seven days. The delegation planned to travel to Jerusalem, Haifa, Nazareth, Ramallah, Hebron and Bil'in to learn from and highlight the work of female peace builders.
