RAMALLAH, October 9, 2010 (JMCC) - A US State Department spokesperson welcomed the Arab League's decision Friday to allow the US an additional month to try to bring Palestinians and Israelis back to the negotiating table.
We appreciate the Arab League's statement of support for our efforts to create conditions that will allow direct talks to move forward, [PJ] Crowley said in a statement. While the Arab League endorsed Palestinian president
Mahmoud Abbas' decision to pull out of talks after
Israel refused to consider a ban on
settlement construction, it left the door open for a possible reversal over the coming weeks.
