RAMALLAH, 26 Oct (JMCC) - US has proposed a peace deal where
Israel would lease land for decades in East
Jerusalem from a future Palestinian state. While discussing future borders of Israel and Palestine in bilateral secret talks, the US proposed 40 and 90-year contracts for large land leases in the Jordan Valley and Jerusalem in exchange for Israeli recognition of a sovereign Palestinian nation.
Palestinian sources confirmed to the paper that the US and Israel are discussing borders and settlements, but PA President Mahmoud Abbas does not yet know the details.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's office refused to confirm or deny the reports, and US State Department sources told the paper that Israel and the US are discussing matters as a part of the the close relations between the two countries.
