RAMALLAH, November 1 (JMCC) - Two boys from the village of Beit Ur in
Ramallah were abused by being stripped naked and urinated upon periodically for two days, said their lawyer.
Muhamed Mekhamer, 13, and Muhammed Radwan, 16, were detained in July in their village and taken to a military station nearby where they were held for two days by Israeli soldiers.
Mekhamer said he was first beaten on his back while being detained and then punched and kicked and beaten by the soldiers with their gun butts. The boys were then stripped and tied up in a bathroom, with an air conditioner blowing on them, for two days without food or water.
Their lawyer, Hiba Musalha, said that the boys became so thirsty that they drank water from the toilet.
Most shocking is the boys' testimony that soldiers would urinate upon their naked bodies instead of urinating in the toilet. The soldiers peed on each of our faces and bodies, and after that they started laughing and took pictures of us while we were in this situation, said Mekhamer in an affidavit.
After being held like this for two days, the boys were taken to interrogation, where they signed confessions that they now say were false. Mekhamer is now being held in Rimonim prison, and Radwan is in Ofer prison near Ramallah.
The two boys are not the only youth from the village who describe such treatment. Musalha says she has accounts from abuse from six boys in the village, all charged with throwing stones at the Israeli military.
Some 400 Palestinian minors are being held in Israeli prisons, according to Palestinian statistics.
