JERUSALEM, November 9 (JMCC) - Clashes broke out Tuesday in the East
Jerusalem neighborhood of
Isawiya between police and rock-throwing protesters.
Residents said that police had stationed themselves for three days at the entrance to the area, stopping passersby and inspecting cars. The blockade restricted access to schools, and it wasn't long before students had begun throwing rocks at the police.
Silwan, too, was the site of conflict Monday night as an undercover police unit clashed with Palestinians. Four were arrested.
Also in East Jerusalem Monday, Israeli forces removed a memorial site dedicated to Samer Sarhan, a Palestinian killed by Israeli soldiers.
