JERUSALEM, Nov 24 (JMCC) - Israeli forces demolished Wednesday a cement-block home being built in the
Jerusalem neighborhood of al-Tur.
Owner Aziz Abdel Rahman Zableh said that Israeli authorities had fined him for building without a permit NIS 22,000, about $6,000, an amount which he paid in full. Still, an appeal to the courts was too late.
By the time Zableh's lawyers had contacted the court to stop the demolition, the structure was destroyed and its contents bulldozed.
Analysts estimate some 20,000 homes in Jerusalem are in danger of being demolished, ostensibly for being built without a permit.
