RAMALLAH, Feb. 13 (JMCC) -- Saeb Erekat, Palestinian chief negotiator, said Sunday that his resignation was unrelated to the content of the controversial documents leaked by Al-Jazeera news channel.

In an interview with Voice of Palestine Radio, Erekat said he resigned as the head of the negotiation affair department in Palestine Liberation Organization due to administrative problems in his office.

My resignation aims to pay the price of a security breach in my office, Erekat said, a day after he submitted his resignation to the PLO's Executive Committee.

He described the leaked reports and minutes about the negotiations from his office as a national security crime.
