RAMALLAH, June 6 (JMCC) - Two Palestinian youths were charged in an Israeli military court Sunday with the stabbing and shooting deaths of five members of a family from the Israeli settlement of Itamar.

Seventeen-year-old Hakim Awad and 18-year-old Amjad Awad reportedly confessed to entering the Fogel home in April and killing the family as they slept.

Palestinians have expressed skepticism that the two young men would have been able to enter the fortified settlement without detection to carry out the murders and suggested the boys were coerced into confessing.

But Amjad made a statement in court Sunday that admitted his culpability, says the Jerusalem Post:

“I don’t regret what I did, and would do it again,” Amjad Awad told reporters in court.

“I’m proud of what I did and I’ll accept any punishment I get, even death, because I did it all for Palestine,” he added.
