RAMALLAH Feb 14 (JMCC) - West Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat is readying plans to demolish homes in Silwan that Israeli officials say were built without permission, reports the
Jerusalem Post. Some 100 Palestinian homes stand in the area of the King's Garden, a building plan that the mayor is billing as a model of Palestinian-Israeli coexistence.
But with the rejection of the plan by city officials, Barakat is readying city resources to demolish nearly 700 illegally built homes in Silwan - and to close and seal an Israeli settler home also constructed without permission.
