RAMALLAH Feb 21 (JMCC) - A Hamas official sounded a conciliatory note towards rival faction Fatah Saturday, despite Hamas charges of Fatah members' involvement of the killing of Hamas commander Mahmoud Mabhouh in Dubai.
Hamas does not accuse Fatah of the killing of Mahmoud Mabhouh, said Salah Bardawil in a press conference. This will not affect the reconciliation with Fatah.
Bardawil was speaking after Hamas published on its website the names of two Palestinians detained in Jordan and extradited to Dubai for providing logistics support for a hit squad that assassinated Mabhouh in Dubai last month.
Hamas had claimed the two were in the employ of Fatah leader Muhammed Dahlan, charges
denied by the former security strongman.
Bardawil said that Hamas places full responsibility for killing Mabhouh with the Mossad and promised that Israel would pay a price for its crimes.
He went on to warn that the Hamas commander had exposed himself to surveillance by calling his family in Gaza and telling them of his travel plans, as well as buying his plane ticket over the internet.
Relations soured between Hamas and Dahlan in particular after the Islamist group's armed forces routed Palestinian Authority security forces in June 2007.
