RAMALLAH Feb 25 (JMCC) - A confidante of slain Hamas commander Mahmoud Mahbouh has denied being arrested or detained by Syrian authorities.
According to the Hamas website Paltimes.net, Muhammad Nasser refutes reports that Syrian authorities have detained him or placed him under house arrest.
Israeli media had reported Tuesday that Dubai authorities were asking for the arrest of the Hamas man, alleged to have been involved in the same kidnapping of Israeli soldiers for which Mabhouh was suspected.
Speculation has been rife about a possible mole in the Islamic movement since the Dubai police chief called a Hamas informant in the affair the real killer. Hamas has denied that any of its members were involved in the killing.
