RAMALLAH, April 27 (JMCC) - Palestinian president
Mahmoud Abbas said in a television interview Monday that he was prepared to start indirect talks with
Israel.
Speaking in an interview with Israel's Channel 2, Abbas said that he would bring the proposal for indirect talks to the Arab League on May 1 and hope for the group's approval.
The leader of the
PLO also said he was not interested in unilaterally declaring a Palestinian state, contradicting statements made by the Palestinian prime minister
Salam Fayyad in an interview with one of Israel's leading newspapers.
