RAMALLAH, May 2 (JMCC) - Israeli participants entered the Palestinian city of Bethlehem for the first time this year to join other runners in a mini-marathon from Bethlehem to Jerusalem.

The annual event which has taken place for seven years has never seen Israelis participating the whole way because Israel forbids its citizens from entering Palestinian areas.

Because of the relative calm that currently exists a few Israelis ventured into Bethlehem to run the whole race instead of joining in once runners pass through the barrier that separates the Palestinian and Israeli-controlled areas.
