Saadi al-Krunz, a member of Fateh, serves as minister of transportation in the thirteenth Palestinian government. He was appointed by PA President Mahmoud Abbas and on May 19, 2009 he was officially sworn in. Previously he also held this post in the Palestinian national unity government between March and June 2007, and in the fifth Palestinian government in 2003. He served as minister of industry between 1998 and 2002. He was elected as the Fateh candidate to the Palestinian Legislative Council for Deir al-Balah, Gaza.

Al-Krunz was born in 1958 in al-Bureij Refugee Camp in the Gaza Strip to a refugee family originally from al-Faluja (now Kiryat Gat, Israel). He currently lives in Nuseirat Refugee Camp in the Gaza Strip. He holds a BSc in mathematics from Mansura University in Egypt, an MA in mathematics from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada and a PhD in mathematics and statistics from Purdue University in the United States.

Before becoming minister, al-Krunz was dean of the school of social sciences, dean of student affairs and head of the mathematics and statistics department at al-Azhar University in Gaza. He was then head of the mathematics and statistics department at the Islamic University in Gaza. He has written extensively on the subject of statistics.

Al-Krunz supports economic, health and educational development. He supports open immigration policies for Palestinians in the diaspora, advocating that Palestinians in the diaspora should be eligible for Palestinian passports.
