Ziad al-Thatha, a member of Hamas, was minister of economy in the Palestinian national unity government in 2007, also served as minister of transport in the government formed by Hamas in 2006.

Al-Thatha was born in 1955 in Gaza. He holds a PhD in civil engineering from the University of Alexandria in Egypt. He was deputy regional engineer at UNRWA and was head of the Palestinian Engineers’ Union in Gaza. He is involved in many charitable organizations.
