Dr Ahmed al-Shibi, a member of the Fateh party, was appointed minister of health in the government formed in October 2002. He lost the position in the April 2003 cabinet reshuffle. He was the Fateh member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) for Khan Younis.

Al-Shibi was born in Khan Younis in 1945. He holds a PhD in pediatrics. Upon completing his studies he worked as a physician and became the health consultant at the ministry of health before becoming minister of health in 2002. He was a member of the council affairs committee of the PLC, a member of the education and social affairs committee of the PLC and a member of the monitoring human rights and public freedoms committee in the PLC.
