"A long time ago, a man was walking in the dark and deserted streets of a small town in Palestine. Suddenly, he was brought to a halt by the scream of a woman, followed by the sound of a baby's cry. He knew that a child had been born. He looked towards the place from which the sounds had come, and saw that it was a stable for sheep and cows. The look on his face expressed the surprise and wonder that he felt. Pausing only briefly, he continued on his way through the empty streets of Bethlehem."
With this paragraph, the book begins to follow the footsteps of Jesus from the day he was born until his resurrection. Using a simple narrative story-like text, quotations from the Old and New testaments, as well as quotations from the various churches, this simple book takes the young reader on a spiritual and religious journey not only through the life of Jesus, but also across Palestine. The concluding statement expresses the theme of the book: "In a world darkened by the shadow of death under the sun of vanity, God is still calling us to respond to the love he has for us. He is still holding out his hand from beyond the sun of vanity to save us, the generation of the third millennium."
