AL MUHAJER (The Emigrant)

When Georges Chehade first drafted his famous play,"The Emigrant of Brisbane,"long time ago, he could not have known that the Al Kasaba Theatre would want it staged in such a form. Rather,he would have taken the risk to wait and enjoy participating.Emigration,in such circumstances as those of the Palestinians under occupation addresses several issues besides its main theme.

Chehade isolates the subject f immigration from its contextual substance only to enter the humanistic depth that creates a glass where the few enjoy and the majority hates.

But when immigration returns to the homeland it does not find it,and fate does not relief it.On the contrary it brings a country that is not The country and saws an unintentional conspiracy that could not but conclude with a crime whose subsequent is giving up to parsimony and selfishness that slam against the wall all humanistic laws.

Nostalgia ..homeland..settlements..honor.. alienation..integrity..illiteracy and suspicion.. among other human factors. Fantasia as it is portrayed.

The Emigrant"moves you deep and incites so many questions, eagerly looking for answers. Directed by Mohamed El Khomais (Morocco); adapted by George Ibrahim Playing at Al Kasaba Theatre in Ramallah (see events).
