An Italian Week inPalestine
for peace in the Middle East
1 - 9 September  2000

Two years ago,the President of the Palestinian National Authority,Yasser Arafat came to Italy appealing to visit Bethlehem and to contribute to its 2000 year celebrations.Taking up his invitation,the Italian Co-ordination of Local Authorities for Peace -in accord with Bethlehem 2000 Project-have decided to contribute to the Bethlehem 2000's celebrations and to support the peace process by organising "An Italian week in Palestine"from the 1st to the 9th September 2000. The programme foresees the organisation of more than 150 political and cultural events in Bethlehem,Jerusalem,Gaza,Hebron,Nablus,Ramallah,Jericho and in other Palestinian localities,including refugee camps.Three hundred Italian artists are scheduled to perform from the 1st to the 7th of September in the various activities: modern and classical music,folklore,theatre,choirs,gastronomy,workshops,children animation and sport.
