Artist of the Month
Salim Aboud Ashqar

Born in Nazareth in 1976, Salim started learning the piano at age six in Haifa, then Jerusalem. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and is currently working towards his higher degree in Hanover, Germany.
Salim began performing at pubic venues since he was 10 either through solo concerts or with other performers.
In 1994, Salim performed at the Peace Concert in Oslo, Norway where he played Beethoven's Spring Sonata, and in the same year participated in a concert celebrating the 1200-year-old city of Frankfurt.
In 1996, he perfomed solo concerts in Jordan and several Palestinian cities where his concerts became a yearly tradition as in his hometown, Nazareth.
A few years ago, Salim performed with maestro Daniel Barenhoim at Birzeit University in the pressence and coordination of Professor Edward Said. Salim won several awards including the Palestine Award for Music in 1988 and the Initiativekeris Ruhrgebiet Award as well as finalist award in Italy.

Saleim will perform at the Friends Boys School in El Bireh on Saturday 28/4 at 19:00
