Conjuring up the past to read the future an epic still living in the Palestinian collective memory, with a special flavor. A total of 17 actors and actresses, in addition to the director, Mohammad Khomais, add a touch of magic to the epic.
We used the text of Alfred Farage, written for theatre, and the original epic, and the conscience of the famous poet, Amal Dankel, to re-interpret the epic in a new way; and the result is a work full of the details of life, of artistic extremism, music, madness, and magic.
Through the main actor Abu Al Majd, "Open Strike" presents in a humorous the political and social aspects of our daily lives, with all its contradictions.
Abu Al Majd is a garbage collector who's fed up with his life and decides to go on strike against the authority and his boss, hoping he will be able to improve his working conditions. His boss, who has been known for his opportunistic approach, tries to put an end to the strike using all means and methods.
