Palestine at the turn of the century as the city of peace heralds in the
third
millenium...
Beginning on Christmas Eve 1999 and continuing over a
period of 16 months until Easter 2001, Bethlehem will be
the focus of continued celebrations, spiritual and secular,
to anticipate in new era of peace and good will in the
third millenium.
In addition to the exciting historical and religious sites,
Bethlehem has entertainment and exciting adventures to
offer. A series of concerts, choral music, and masses
will be presented through the Spring and Fall Concert
series. Organized nature walks and popular traditional
village ceremonies will be part of these celebrations. The
long and colorful Summer Season will feature choral music,
folklore performances, puppet shows, film festivals,
international youth gatherings, and public concerts and
plays in the streets of Bethlehem. Regular and weekly
events will be available for visitors in the major Palestinian
cities all through the 16 months. The Christmas
Season 2000 will have special emphasis on youth and children.
A grand closing ceremony will coincide with
Easter 2001.
