The Jerusalem Festival for Arabic Music
6 - 15 July 99

“Arabic Music for an Arab Jerusalem”

Yabous Productions offers a wide range of cultural events that are characterized by a high artistic standard
and a cultural and creative perspective that targets a broad popular spectrum.
This summer “Yabous Productions” is organizing the fourth “Jerusalem Festival for Arabic Music” presenting local, Arab and international groups. The Festival emphasizes Palestinian groups from Palestine and abroad. The program is characterized by its diversity in an attempt to formulate a portrait of genuine Arabic Music ranging from solo singing, Orchestra and Choirs to Oriental Ensembles and Muwashahat. This year's festival will take place at the Tomb of the Kings and inside the walls of the Old City - in the courtyard of the Lutheran Church. The Old City activities will focus on the Oud (Arabic guitar) with accompaniments on the Qanun (Arabic sitar), Nay (Arabic flute) and Daff (percussion).
Culture leads People towards the Sun: we are in great need of awakening the
sense of musical enjoyment within ourselves.
May the slumberous be awakened.
