RAMALLAH, March 19 (JMCC) - A draft resolution recommending that the United Nations General Assembly ask the International Criminal Court to probe possible war crimes in the
Gaza Strip will be considered on Monday,
reports the Associated Press.
The resolution is part of a panel report to the UN Human Rights Council. The panel has criticized
Israel for non-cooperation with its work by not providing access to Israel and the
occupied Palestinian territories.
It has also criticized
Hamas for not investigating charges of war crimes carried out by its fighters during Israel's 22-day
assault on the Gaza Strip in 2008 and 2009.
Just over a year ago, the UN General Assembly voted to give Israel and Palestinians an additional five months to probe the war crimes alleged by the world body.
Some 1,400 Palestinians, many of them civilians, were killed along with 13 Israelis in the conflict.
