RAMALLAH Feb 10 (JMCC) - New York Times executive editor Bill Keller has rejected a call by the newspaper's ombudsman for the Jerusalem bureau chief of the Times to be reassigned because his son is serving in the Israeli army.
The controversy began when the website Electronic Intifada reported that journalist Ethan Bronner's 20-year-old son had enlisted in the Israeli military. While the paper's public editor reviewed the issue and called for Bronner's reassignment, the Times editorial staff has refused to act.
