Naif al-Rajoub

Sheikh Naif Muhammed al-Rajoub was minister of waqf and religious affairs in the government formed by Hamas between March 2006 and March 2007.

Al-Rajoub was born in Hebron in 1958. He holds a BA in Sharia from the University of Jordan and a master’s degree from the University of Hebron. He is a well known political leader and Imam who has written several books. He was detained in Israeli prisons on several occasions - in 1989, 1993 and 2005. He was amongst the members of Hamas deported to Marj Zuhur in 1992. He was a member of al-Rajoub cooperative society and a member of Dora Charity for Orphans. After being minister, al-Rajoub became a lecturer at al-Quds Open University.
