RAMALLAH, Jan 26 (JMCC) -
Hamas has called on Palestinians across
Gaza and the
West Bank to protest the conduct of the
Palestinian Authority revealed by the Palestine Papers documents leaked by Al-Jazeera.
Palestine is not for sale, said Hamas leader Yahya Musa in Khan Yunis.
The Palestinians deserve a better government than the one sitting in
the West Bank.
Denouncing the
Fateh concessions on the Haram Sharif, settlements and the right of return, amidst burgeoning criticism for collaboration between Israeli and Palestinian security forces in assassinations and 2008's
Operation Cast Lead, leaders and officials are calling for demonstrations across the Gaza Strip.
Representatives of several Palestinian groups, including Hamas, held an
emergency meeting in Gaza City to discuss the repercussions of the
Al-Jazeera claims.
The groups said in a statement after the meeting that PA President
Mahmoud Abbas and his team do not have a mandate to negotiate on behalf
of the Palestinians.
Ayman Taha, a spokesman for Hamas, said that the groups agreed that the
leaked documents were “very serious.” He said that many Palestinians
have been shocked by the revelations.
The groups also called on the PA to stop security coordination with Israel, he added.
While seeking a UN-wide condemnation of
settlements, the PA is currently accusing Al-Jazeera of distorting facts, lying and undermining it's leadership. Chief negotiator
Saeb Erekat reportedly said the leaked documents threaten his life.
