OPINION: Unarmed demonstrators face difficult struggle

RAMALLAH, January 3 (JMCC) - The death of Jawaher Abu Rahma in Bilin this weekend throws a new spotlight on the weekly anti-wall demonstrations taking place at eight villages in the West Bank, writes Donald Macintyre.

Whatever the medical factors, if any, that may have increased Ms Abu Rahma's susceptibility to the military's heavy use of tear gas on Friday, she is the 21st person to have been killed since 2004 in such protests.

Macintyre details how protests have continued in Bilin despite a court order to move the course of the wall to Israeli territory because the Israeli military has stalled on implementing the court decision.
