Qarara or Kissufim crossing was completely closed after Israel's August 2005 unilateral withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.

Located between Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah, Kissufim crossing was designated solely for Israeli movement - military and that of settlers residing in Gaza. It was occasionally used for the transfer of cement and other materials. 

Al-Qarara is still sometimes used for the entry of tanks and military vehicles during Israeli military incursions and offensives in the Gaza Strip.
