RAMALLAH, June 22, 2020 - Palestinians appear to have unified around the establishment of a social security law, one year after the government halted its implementation of the law for the third time in its history.
Nearly 95% of Palestinians said that social security encompassing medical insurance, retirement and unemployment benefits was important,
according to the latest JMCC poll. The coronavirus pandemic appears to have increased public awareness over the need for a social security infrastructure, at the same time that trust in the government is also high due to its handling of the pandemic.
