RAMALLAH, November 3 (JMCC) - Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netenyahu's cabinet deliberated a draft that would measure anti-Israeli incitement in the areas controlled by the
Palestinian Authority including schoolbooks, institutionalized media and remarks made by senior Palestinian Authority officials. The 'incitement index', originally deliberated nine months ago, is part of a bigger push by
Israel to pressure the Palestinian Authority to halt anti-Israeli incitement and violence that it fears continues to brew in the occupied
Palestinian territories.
The ratings are based on analysis of institutionalized Palestinian media and Palestinians schoolbooks and remarks of senior Palestinian Authority officials.
The cabinet decided during its deliberations on Tuesday that the meter should be regularly updated and presented in various forums in order to influence the Palestinian Authority into curbing incitement and education yielding violence.
