RAMALLAH Feb. 2 (JMCC) - Legal proceedings against numerous Arab politicians in Israel is raising concerns of persecution, reports The National.
Said Nafaa was stripped of his parliamentary immunity last week, clearing the way for charges against him for a visit he made to Syria three years ago. Two other politicians are also facing charges.
Arab politicians also point to a bill introduced last month requiring all parliamentary candidates to swear loyalty to Israel as a Jewish state. If passed, the seats of 10 Arab parliamentarians belonging to non-Zionist parties in the 120-member Knesset would be under threat.
