RAMALLAH, January 20 (JMCC) - A woman and her 18-month-old child were among 15 Palestinians and their supporters arrested Saturday as they tried to reach Palestinian lands in the southern Hebron hills.
A video
available here shows Israeli soldiers detaining the woman and her child as other family members look on. The residents of Susiya and members of the co-existence group Ta'ayush were trying to access the village, which the soldiers said was a closed military zone.
The incident follows the killing this week of two Palestinians, 21-year-old Uday Darwish from Hebron and 16-year-old Samir Awad from Budrus village in Ramallah. On Friday, a 15-year-old boy was seriously injured by Israeli gunfire near the Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem.
The incidents mark an escalation in casualties from live fire by the Israeli military.
