RAMALLAH, January 20 (JMCC) - Initial reports indicate that
more than a dozen Palestinians, among them Palestinian Authority security forces and civilians, were injured Sunday night in clashes that broke out in al-Amari refugee camp in Ramallah.
The clashes appear to have begun after youth closed the main road outside the camp in support of prisoners in Israeli jails. Video from Wattan TV
available on YouTube shows Palestinian riot police throwing stones into the camp as they are targeted by stone-throwers, and then rushing the camp entrance as gunshots are fired. An ambulance takes away an injured person on a stretcher.
Twitter users at the scene reported that arrests were made by the police, who also sought to clear onlookers from the area.
