RAMALLAH, Feb 28 (JMCC) - Israeli officials may ratify a plan to beam commercial messages on to the Western Wall where Jews pray, reports
Haaretz.
The advertising venue could be used to sell everything from internet services to soft drinks. Revenues collected will be used to replace paper skullcaps distributed at the site, the construction of a 14-foot-high partition between male and female prayer areas, and creation of a searchable database of notes left by visitors to the wall.
In the past, changes to the status quo at the Western wall area have aggravated tensions, both between Palestinians and Israelis, and between moderate and extremist Jews.
