RAMALLAH, March 1 (JMCC) - The official Palestinian campaign against settlement products has launched a new website, karama.ps, in both English and Arabic.

The website details some of settlement products that are sold in the occupied Palestinian territories and calls on citizens to boycott their sale and purchase.

Some studies indicate that the amount of settlement products sold in Palestinian markets exceeds five hundred million Dollars, which is a terrifying amount in all standards. If Palestinian consumers boycotted these products, this large amount of money would pour in to the veins of our national economy, which would in turn ensure the establishment of more industries, projects, and production lines, providing at least 50,000 new job opportunities. This is what would give our national economy the push it needs to prosper, develop, and gradually free itself from its dependence on Israeli economy. This independence is what will free us from the current numerous constrains limiting our economy to following and pouring into the benefit of Israeli economy.

The time has come for a responsible and serious national position against settlement products. The National Dignity & Empowerment fund was established to support the Palestinian people in their struggle against polluting their markets with settlement products and services, and lead an international campaign to raise public awareness about the political implications associated with accepting Israeli settlement products in international markets.

The website also promotes a draft law that would make it a crime punishable by five to ten years in prison and a hefty fine to damage public through the sale of settlement products. Selling and transporting any goods produced in Israeli settlements are also punishable by a fine and jail time.
