Mitri Abu Eitah became minister of tourism and artifacts in the government formed in June 2002 a position which he held until February 2005. Although he was first made minister of tourism in 1998, he was minister of transportation prior to his June 2002 appointment as minister of tourism. He was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), in 1996 and served as deputy speaker of the PLC from 1996 to 1998.

Abu Eitah was born in 1941 in Bethlehem. He holds a BA in law from Damascus University. Before becoming a minister, he practiced law and served as chairman of the Jordanian Bar Association from 1994 to 1998. He was also involved in the hotel and tourism industry for more than 20 years.
