Summary: The Agreement on the Gaza Strip and Jericho Area states that Israel shall immediately implement an accelerated and scheduled withdrawal of Israeli military forces from the Gaza Strip and the Jericho Area, in accordance with Article XIII of the Declaration of Principles. The Agreement also states that Israel shall transfer authority from the Israeli military government and its Civil Administration to the Palestinian Authority, PA, except for the authority that Israel shall continue to exercise as specified in the agreement. Amongst other things, the Agreement also outlines the composition and structure the PA was to take; the areas of its jurisdiction; the powers and responsibilities it would undertake within the areas of its jurisdiction; its legislative powers; and the arrangements for security. |
